Mecia Simone Simson is a British model, who grew up in her birth place Plymouth Devon, she began her modeling career after she was announced as the winner of the fifth cycle of Britain’s Next Top Model in July 2009. Mecia first came to the public’s attention by appearing on the fifth cycle of Britain’s Next Top Model in 2009. She was selected as the first finalist after impressing the judges the most at the boot camp themed semi finals, and won a billboard campaign in the United States for Christian Audigier for this accomplishment. Mecia then went onto winning 3 more challenges on the show. She managed to make it to the final four without being in the bottom two. On 6 July 2009, Mecia was announced as the winner of “Britain’s Next Top Model” after being chosen over the thousands of people who auditioned for the show. She received a contract with top modeling agency Models 1, a cover and six page spread in Company Magazine, and became the face of a Max Factor cosmetics campaign as her rewards for winning the competition.
Mecia has signed with model agencies in Cape Town, New York, Brussels, Milan and has now switched her London agent to Nevs Woman.
Since winning the show, Mecia has appeared on various TV shows and print advertisements, modeling for brands such as Maxfactor, Sweaty Betty, Stella McCartney, Dolce and Gabbana, Debenhams, Adidas, Avon, Mens Health, she has also appeared on UK TV shows Styled to Rock with Rihanna, and This Morning. She has also appeared in commercials with Debenhams, Apricot, Always, Sears and Britain’s Next Top Model.
Mecia has decided to break into the acting industry, as it is something she has been interested in since childhood. She attended theatre production schools as a child and as an adult she has been studying with teachers such as Dee Cannon and has studied at the London school of acting.
