Alessia Cara was born in Toronto, Canada on July 11, 1996. The Canadian songstress started off by producing acoustic cover songs, before she was later signed to Def Jam Recordings. Her debut album Know-it-All reached number 8 in the Canadian charts and number 9 on the Billboard 200 in the USA; the album’s third single “Scars to Your Beautiful” reached number 8 in the US charts. In 2017, she and Russian DJ Zed collaborated on the single “Stay”. She has received four Grammy nominations, including one for Best New Artist.
Musically, Cara performs in dance and R&B, but also performs in soul and indie pop.
